Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. I was hoping this was a new way to organize my wardrobe, and it helped a little with organizing and weeding out my closet, but I'm not much into fashion (mostly practical, useful, comfortable styles for me), so there wasn't much to pick up and use. The pictures were of young, thin girls and is probably mostly meant for that type with an interest in fashion more than I am. nonfiction - weed and improve your wardrobe first impressions: lots of homework exercises that could be useful to those who haven't taken a good look at what they're wearing or what is really in their closets. Not a lot of diversity in terms of the illustrated models' skin color or body types (there is one mixed race model with light skin and another model with olive-toned skin, but they're all pretty skinny by American standards--author is from Berlin), but perhaps there are still some takeaways there. I peeked at the blog (Into Mind) and it seems to be the same deal--lots of skinny white-skinned women in various outfits. due to health issues I have more or less fallen into an outfit rut, and thought it might be a good time to give my closet a good purge. Unfortunately a lot of this book isn't helpful since I am under particular constraints dictated by my health conditions, but I did skim through and found a few things to help strategize my next moves to make the most of it and get some of my style back. I think a lot of folks would benefit from Rees' systematic approach but they'd get what they put into it--i.e., some are already pretty wardrobe conscious and have already done a lot of it, while others are spendthrifts and maybe aren't likely to commit to the mindful shopping tips detailed herein.
