Art. Crafts. Health & Fitness. Nonfiction. HTML:Is your closet jam-packed and yet you have absolutely nothing to wear? Can you describe your personal style in one sentence? If someone grabbed a random piece from your closet right now, how likely is it that it would be something you love and wear regularly?

With so many style and shopping options, it can be difficult to create a streamlined closet of pieces that can be worn easily and confidently. In The Curated Closet, style writer Anuschka Rees presents a fascinatingly strategic approach to identifying, refining, and expressing personal style and building the ideal wardrobe to match it, with style and shopping strategies that women can use every day. Using The Curated Closet method, youâ??ll learn to:

â?˘ Shop smarter and more selectively
â?˘ Make the most of your budget
â?˘ Master outfit formulas and color palettes
â?˘ Tweak your wardrobe for work
â?˘ Assess garment fit and quality like a pro

Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

I was hoping this was a new way to organize my wardrobe, and it helped a little with organizing and weeding out my closet, but I'm not much into fashion (mostly practical, useful, comfortable styles for me), so there wasn't much to pick up and use. The pictures were of young, thin girls and is probably mostly meant for that type with an interest in fashion more than I am. ( )

nonfiction - weed and improve your wardrobe
first impressions: lots of homework exercises that could be useful to those who haven't taken a good look at what they're wearing or what is really in their closets. Not a lot of diversity in terms of the illustrated models' skin color or body types (there is one mixed race model with light skin and another model with olive-toned skin, but they're all pretty skinny by American standards--author is from Berlin), but perhaps there are still some takeaways there. I peeked at the blog (Into Mind) and it seems to be the same deal--lots of skinny white-skinned women in various outfits.

due to health issues I have more or less fallen into an outfit rut, and thought it might be a good time to give my closet a good purge. Unfortunately a lot of this book isn't helpful since I am under particular constraints dictated by my health conditions, but I did skim through and found a few things to help strategize my next moves to make the most of it and get some of my style back. I think a lot of folks would benefit from Rees' systematic approach but they'd get what they put into it--i.e., some are already pretty wardrobe conscious and have already done a lot of it, while others are spendthrifts and maybe aren't likely to commit to the mindful shopping tips detailed herein. Sehr gutes Buch. ( )

Part how-to, part workbook. To get the most out of this book, set aside time to assess your wardrobe and to reflect on your personal style--something I was not able to do with the short time I had a library copy. ( )

Training yourself to be more selective is the single most effective thing you can do to upgrade your wardrobe.
I had a ton of clothes—and absolutely nothing to wear.
styling is a skill like any other. And that means anyone can learn it and you don't have to be born with a natural talent for it. But you also cannot expect to be great at styling without putting in any effort at all.

Like everything in life, styling takes practice.
The key idea of minimalism as a lifestyle philosophy is no different from that of minimalism as a style: remove what's nonessential or what isn't working to put a greater focus on what is left. Or, in other words, get rid of everything that doesn't make you happy or enrich your life to make space for stuff that does.
Living simply is essentially just a technique that you use to improve your daily life, like yoga, healthy eating, meditation, or whatever else you do to stay happy and sane, and that's why you can pick and choose how and to what extent you want to incorporate aspects of minimalist living into your life.
