One of the better translation books I have read. There were many characters but they tied together nicely throughout the story. You felt sorry for the main character, Josephine, in the beginning but then in the middle you start agreeing with her older daughter that she deserves all that happened to her. Yet by the end, you root for her anyway just because she truly tries to be a nice person. Notice the same behaviors in her daughters as her sister, Iris. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

When Iris charms a famous publisher into offering her a lucrative deal for a twelfth-century romance, she offers her sister a deal of her own: Jose;phine will write the novel and pocket all the proceeds, but the book will be published under Iris's name.
