I thought my barely-5-years-old grandson, who has seldom left our farm since the pandemic began 18 months ago, might find this book hard to relate to. Not at all. It was educational and inspiring. He wanted to know if the city was Toronto; it’s very much like Toronto (quite likely inspired by New York, but it tries to focus on city universals -- not every city, however has a subway and a ferry). So then he wanted to go to Toronto and do all the things. Get in the car and leave. RIGHT NOW. How ya gonna keep’em down on the farm? ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Cityblock explores city life in an exciting and unique way, from up in a high-rise building to down in the subway. Divided into three sections - things that go, things to see, and things to eat - it features 24 different aspects of city living. As with the other acclaimed books in the series, die-cut icons hint at the larger context on the next spread. Each section opens with a full city scene but gradually focuses in on the small, unique neighborhoods that make the city large and grand. This clever book will attract young readers living in a metropolis as well as those in the countryside with urban life that pops off each page. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
