The new recruits first mission is worse than they expected. The ships commander is super cruel. They get a distress call from a frontier planet. They also don't know they have someone trying to sabotage their mission. This is a very tense, suspenseful, horror filled novel! So exciting! Nerve wracking! Lots of action and emotional connection between characters. Thrilling yet witty and funny dialogue at times.
Great book!

Mr Arenson writes well with a vivid eye for personality and action. Please be aware however that from this book in the series on, this is a cross between horror and sci-fi. His aliens are singularly nasty in looks and actions, while their interactions with humans are stomach churning and nightmare producing. Not for the reader of classic sci-fi. (
