The brother who from a young age has traveled a path of tragedy that has left him scarred and wary. His devotion to his family and his land is obvious but has closed his heart to anything more. Sophia has had a run of bad luck lately that has her pulling up roots and seeking purpose. A helping hand from a surprising source places her and Caleb on a journey that will bring change and healing to two lonely hearts. My favorite part of the story was Dinah. She is truly a mother bear protecting her cub in the case of all her children and I thought it was moving that she appointed herself as Sophia's guardian angel despite no true family connection. Caleb was stronger than he gave himself credit for but it was great that his mom (Dinah) was there for backup when needed. What I love about the Lawsons is that rather by blood or through love, family is the most important thing to them. ( )

Loved Caleb & Sofia! I've never read about a hero that reminds me so much of the man in my life. Caleb is the strong silent tragic brother. Caleb married his high school sweetheart, Iris. Iris had a medical condition & was in a car accident while having a seizure. Caleb went out of control with drinking & women for a short time & then isolated himself on the farm.

Sofia is a chef from Arizona traveling to Roswell to work with a friend from culinary school. On the way, her tickets sent her on a wrong path & someone stole all of her money stranding her I town. Come to find out, Sofia's mother & Caleb's mother, Dinah, went to college together.

I totally loved these characters! Sofia is a talkative, lovable knockout extrovert. Caleb is a strong, independent introvert. Opposites are supposed to attract, right? They do in this case. From the beginning, Sofia knew what Caleb was trying to say without the words. Caleb was an expert listener that could hear what Sofia was trying to say under the chatter. And the chemistry was hot! Marquita has a talent for creating characters that you love whatever the romance type is. While there is hot chemistry & some sex scenes, I would classify this as a sweet romantic read. It isn't as explicit as erotic romances. While this is the 6th book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. There are recurring characters but the back story isn't necessary. It just compliments the book. I can't wait for Preston's story! ( )
