Yoga needs no special equipment, it is not competitive and will help you set aside time for yourself. It will enable you to cope with the stresses of life and explore conflicts about self-image and self-esteem in a gentle untraumatic way. 'Yoga for Women' includes:* A system of exercises to celebrate womanhood* A basic yoga 'vocabulary' of postures and breathing* A programme of postures for life passages from adolescence through pregnancy to old age It is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with experience and has been illustrated with photographs and line drawings. By enhancing your flexibility, strength and power, yoga will give you access to inner peace and tranquillity. It is valuable when feeling fragile, physically vulnerable or undermined, and enriches times of confidence, exuberance and celebration. Paddy O'Brien has practised and taught yoga for many years. She is also a self-defence teacher and director of a personal training consultancy. Widely published, Paddy is the author of 'Birth and Our Bodies' and 'Your Life After Birth' and is the mother of five children.… (meer)

A very good, useful book -- particular for those new to yoga. It approaches yoga in a way that is casual and accessible, not at all intimidating or overwhelming. Plus, there's plenty of photographs and illustrations to show poses. And the poses themselves range from easy to advanced, so anyone should be able to get something out of this. ( )
