This is a well-structured and easily-read manual on tracing the history of your home in the UK.
Along the way, there are some very helpful explanatory graphics, such as the timeline of useful sources on pg. 16, the samples of old handwriting compared against modern handwriting on pg. 42 and a list of useful addresses on pp. 262 et seq.
I also liked the section on Goad maps (pp. 124 et seq) and geology ("What Lies Beneath" on pp 254 et seq).
There is also an intriguing postscript about the search for James Paterson.
If you are researching the history of a home in the UK, this book is recommended. ( )
