Actually moves forward the Iron Man/Inhumans plot. ( ) The war between Stark and the Inhumans has come to an end 6:40 pm 1 November 2016 Uncanny Inhumans (2015-) #14 - Charles Soule, Ryan Stegman, Carlos Pacheco I can't say I'm sorry: despite the excellent of this issue, the whole Civil War tie-in and me refusing to read Civil War II or spend money on tie-in issues that are in other series means I didn't get all of this story. I'll be happy to get back to the Quiet Room, like promised for next issue. Maximus should play a big part - and this is old school villainous Maximus which is, quite frankly, how I like him. A little dramatic and over the top, but with some truly heinous scheming going on. And the reason I trust this will happen is that his plan is brilliant and twisted in this: it's the best I've seen from him in a long while. Soule gets it. So much so that even the sometimes iffy art - and I'm talking a couple panels, versus some damn fine artwork in the rest of the issue - doesn't even knock down the star rating. I come to this series, quite frankly, for the writing and I've been loving what Soule's been doing. It does help that there's Black Bolt in this issue, and the storyline with Triton that had to come to a head at some point does now. I can't help but feel badly for Triton: like Black Bolt, he saw no easy solution, and no good solution, and chose what he saw was the lesser of two evils for Attilan. And he's paying the price now, although he confessed, and agreed to being taken in to save Medusa and Attilan at the end. He saw the mask slip of Maximus, and although Triton set this in motion, he realized just hot badly he had miscalculated. Still, he was not-so-secretly my second favorite of the royal family. Not sure I've said it that plainly, but I have made comments about me being protective of him in the past. (Like in that ridiculous issue where Karnak mocks him and I call it out for being particularly cruel and unlike Karnak. Boo, hiss, Nocenti.) Anyway, I hope Triton makes a return to Attilan soon. And I continue to love this series. I'm going to catch up on Ash and the Evil Dead so I'll fill in the slot for my bingo later on tonight. Probably in about four hours.
