"Marguerite feels awkward, struggling every day to stay productive at work and keep up appearances with friends. She's sensitive, irritable at times. She makes her environment a fluffy, comforting cocoon, alienating her boyfriend. The everyday noise and stimuli assaults her senses, the constant chatter of her coworkers working her last nerve. Then, when one big fight with her boyfriend finds her frustrated and dejected, Marguerite finally investigates the root of her discomfort: after a journey of tough conversations with her loved ones, doctors, and the internet, she discovers that she has Aspergers. Her life is profoundly changed - for the better" --Amazon.… (meer)

I would give this book 10 stars if it was possible.
I would also wish that Every Person took the 30 min to read this book.
It is epic. It is true. It is necessary for a compassionate and loving world. ( )

I like this book with all my heart. The way the author demonstrates how the character feels is so great and the art is so beautiful.
It is a french graphic novel and I like to know a different culture. ( )

I'm putting this in memoir-autobiography, because it is clearly based on one author's life, and I can't tell how fictional it is. Very straightforward storytelling, that is nonetheless highly evocative of life with Asperger's. I like the pacing, the direct address to the reader, the art. I also delighted in watching Marguerite flower after receiving her diagnosis. It's lovely.

Advanced reader's copy provided by Oni press. ( )

This Book is an insightful look at what it means to be neurodiverse. The extra pressures one undergoes when distractions are too much, when small talk can be difficult, and when you really prefer to be alone doing your own activity because it's blissfully quiet.

In a world of extroverts, being an introvert can be hard enough. Though I'm not autistic, having ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and insomnia - I could still really connect with this story. I hate having to explain myself to others, appearing different or quirky... but I'm learning to embrace it and love myself in spite of it. ( )

This comic is dedicated to you.

You, the deviants*.

People who are "too much like this" or "not enough like that."

You, who simply by existing transgress established norms.

You, who thumb your nose at the dictates of "normality."

There's nothing in you that needs healing, nothing that needs to change. Your rose is not to fit into a mold, but rather, to help others -- al other -- out of the molds they've been trapped in. You're not here to follow some pre-ordained path, but rather the opposite: to make you own way in the world, and invite those around you to stray from their well-trodden paths.

By embracing your truest self, making peace with your uniqueness, you become an example to follow. You thus have the power to shatter the normative shackles that hold us all back and keep us from living together in mutual respect and acceptance.

Your difference isn't part of the problem, it's part of the solution.

It is a cure for our society, a society obsessed with normality.

- Julie Dachez

* In sociology, deviance refers to behavior that violates reigning social norms.

And last but not least, whatever I contributed to this book I dedicate to my sons, Corentin and Armand, my two favorite aspies, constant sources of inspiration and surprise. I wish them a good life in a world that is more tolerant and open to difference.
