I enjoyed this story. The author did a good job of making a complete short without it feeling rushed.
Tony and Eddie meet while studying and Tony invites Eddie to his place for dinner, from there they strike up a friendship. Tony is an only child from a rich family living out his parents’ dreams. Eddie comes from a loving family with an average lifestyle. The two grow closer and Eddie brings much needed brightness to Tony’s tedious life. Tony is at first rather aloof and closed off, but Eddie’s cheerfulness helps to break through Tony’s walls. By interacting with Eddie and Eddie’s family, Tony comes to understand more about himself, what he wants from life and makes some decisions.
Tony and Eddie each had distinct voices. We learn more about Tony because this book is only from his pov. The one thing I didn’t like was that Eddie came across as too perfect. If we had also heard from his pov, that may not have been the case. As it is, Eddie is a bit of a Marty Stu.
Despite my issue with Eddie’s characterization, I liked The Festivus Miracle. If the author decides to make another edition, I’d suggest creating a more attractive cover because it doesn’t do the story justice. I give this book, 3.5 stars raised to 4 Stars because Goodreads doesn’t allow half stars.
