Used in Storytime 11/9/17 ( ) I loved this book; it teaches kids that you don’t have to be friends with just people that look like you. In this story, Lee and his friends are all green peas. Colin is a carrot which is orange and tall and doesn’t look anything like Lee and his friends. Colin can’t roll, doesn’t bounce, and is not good at hiding and seek. Lee and his friends realize that Colin is a great bridge, a great slide, and they love that he isn’t like the other peas. They realize they like that he his different then them, and they love that about him. This is an adorable book about unlikely friendships in spite of differences. Lee the Pea is friends with only other peas aside from Colin the Carrot. Colin obviously does not look like the other friends, but Colin brings many great attributes to their friend group. The peas recognize this, and they love Colin for it. This would be a great book to read in an inclusion classroom, and it would also be great to read to every child in order to establish a community of acceptance. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
