Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss, but I actually wound up reading a library copy before I read the DRC. ( ) This was a pretty good book for 2 reasons: I liked the illustrations and it has a deep meaning. The art in this book was pretty unique to the setting, showing the Indian village as a poor desert. I thought the coloring of the 2 towns showed a real juxtaposition which enhanced the story. The book also pushes readers to think outside of reality and apply that to the real world. This true story tells the tale of a man who, to help his wife get access to medical care, cuts out part of a mountain separating a poor village from access to the next town's services. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"Dashrath Manjhi used a hammer and chisel, grit, determination, and twenty years to carve a path through the mountain separating his poor village from the nearby village with schools, markets, and a hospital. Manjhi Moves a Mountain shows how everyone can make a difference if their heart is big enough."--Provided by publisher. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
