It was engaging, educational and an exciting read that captures the audience. The illustrations wonderfully compliment the text, and the attention to detail is impressive. Much of the text is a narrative between the characters and is written in talking clouds. The book also includes journal entries from the characters that explain the knowledge they are learning in simple terms. For example, I love the comparison of states of matter to the changing traffic lights. Each character is given a question at the beginning of the story that they have to answer by the end of the book, and I think this would be a great way to engage students and create pauses for discussion. At the end of the book, there are experiments pertaining to the lessons learned and also a glossary with vocabulary learned in the book. I was so happy when I discovered this was a series by PBS host Nate Ball because I think these books would be a wonderful addition to every classroom. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
