A wolf in sheep's clothing arrives when the sheep decide to have an adventure, but their good nature wins the day in the end.

I really loved this book for three specific reasons. First, the illustrations are phenomenal. Melissa Sweet always does a fantastic job with her illustrations, and this book is no exception. The way that the sheep and the wolf are portrayed really help the reader follow along with the book. The characters are super cute and the illustrations are fun to look at. Second, I liked the sentence structure within in the book. Instead of having long, drawn-out sentences, the author chose to have short sentences that are straight to the point. The book is written very matter-of-factly. There is no fluff or extra details that can confuse readers. Finally, I really liked the characters. The two sheep are so funny. They are so innocent and don't even know how to have an adventure! The wolf is also a great character. I like how the author, David Elliot, portrayed the wolf in a positive light. In most stories with wolves, they end up being the bad guy. At the end of this book, however, the wolf ended up becoming a great friend to the two sheep. The main idea of this story is to never judge a book by its cover. The sheep were not so sure about the wolf at first. Even though he loved a good chase from time to time, he ended up being a great buddy. ( )

I LOVED THIS BOOK! This has been my favorite children's book I've read so far. I think its great for 3 reasons. 1. I love the lesson behind the book. In a lot of older folk tales, the wolf is portrayed as a sneaky, mean, and unfriendly character. At first, the wolf in this story is portrayed like this. However, the main characters (Baabwaa and Wooliam) eventually realize their own mistake in stereotyping the wolf. They realize that the wolf just needed some love and friendship. I think this is a great message for young children to receive. The second reason I really loved this book is because of the illustrations. The book is illustrated by Melissa Sweet, who Paige presented on last class. Melissa Sweet is very talented. The pictures were fun, bright, and very artistic. The last reason I really liked this book was the emphasis that the author put on friendship.By the end of the story, the two sheep and the wolf are best friends, and the wolf relies on his friends to help him read and become a better "person". In turn, the sheep become better "people" because they have learned to not judge a book by its cover as they did with the sheep in the beginning of the book. Overall, I think this book is really sweet, and I will definitely include it in my future classroom. ( )

Two sheep lead a quiet life knitting and reading, they long for adventure…then they meet a wolf. Because they have read about wolves, they know what to expect, so they befriend the wolf. Kid’s reading this will be well aware of what the wolf is up to! When the first graders visit the library, I like to read a funny book that has an element of the value of reading in it. This book will be great for first graders but also preschool or family story time. ( )
