In the Tremendous Tree book informs the children of different types of trees. This informative text is age appropriate for 1-3rd grade. The illustrations are plain and abstract. There are many interesting facts throughout the book. This book touches upon the life of a tree and the creatures that come in contact with it. The importance of the food chain is pointed out and offers a glimpse in its role with nature. The Children can go outside and pick up leaves from different trees and make their own informative collage.

I used this book for a lesson plan about one to one correspondence with trees and leaves in another class. I loved it because it is very kid friendly, considering animals give out all the tree facts. The book is also written in free verse poems so that makes it easy read for 1st and 2nd graders. I thought the colorful cut out illustrations were very creative as well as simple. This book also mentions how many inventions are made out of trees which is great way to remind children to value trees because they are so useful. I would use it in a science lesson to discuss how a tree leaves change color and how trees grow from seeds. I rated it as a 3 out of 5 book because I think they should have brought it to life more with actual photographs. ( )
