This book is an account of the comics career of artist Trina Robbins, who started out in New York as a hippie dress designer and ended up as a writer and editor. She knew so many people that the first part of the book reads more like lists of name dropping than telling stories… but so many interesting names! Forrest J. Ackerman. Jim Morrison. Bill Gaines. Stan Lee. Harlan Ellison. Gilbert Shelton. Linda Eastman. Quite the social life.

Becoming a feminist cartoonist reacting to the gross misogyny artists like R. Crumb seems like the only logical choice. Trina helped put together the Strip AIDS anthology for charity and reached out to so many women artists.

My only nit to pick here is the low quality of the black and white photos. Dark, blurry and hard to make out. It was disappointing.
