Cryonics. The science of preserving the body in its present state to be brought back at some future date. It was a concept that was thought about during the sixties. And, there are even companies that specialize in some related preservation techniques active today. In the fifth Mike Faraday novel, "Die Now, Live Later," Copper takes his erstwhile PI character and puts him into a situation that could have come out of a Michael Crichton novel, including sneaking around the forbidden secret laboratories where newly-dead people are preserved for future wakefulness.
One of the great things about this series are that no two of the novels are alike and Copper has his PI character engaged in all kinds of different situations from regular classic hardboiled PI work to tropical adventures to spy stories and now, in this book, to dealing with futuristic scientific endeavors. Like all of Copper's work, this book flows smoothly and is just a terrific read. An enjoyable book to read, just a little different than the standard hardboiled fare. ( )
