I quite enjoyed the initial portion of the book which felt like the book version of the satirical TV series "Silicon Valley". The second informational portion of the book was kind of a blur and pretty boring by comparison. "Winner's Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing The World" does a much better job at speaking about the wide spread arrogance, hypocrisy and corruption in Silicon Valley. Nothing that unexpected if you're familiar with SF, but hearing it from a confessed business incompetent who also happens to be a journalist connecting different strands of information with wit to spare is interesting. The last third of the book sort of devolves into too much second-hand speculation and sensationalism for my taste, but this is nonetheless an important book with valid things to say about the abominable startup and tech culture. An "exploration of Silicon Valley tech culture [which the author believes consists of] greed, hubris, and retrograde politics ... that aspires to radically transform society for its own benefit"--Dust jacket flap. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
