For almost a century Lord Cedric has hunted the supernatural, hiding the fact he's one of Sorceress Morrighan's abominations. Fearful of others discovering his true nature, he weds the Lady of the Court, Angeline, after winning a tournament. The dormant magic in her veins overwhelms his senses, forcing him to realize she's more than what she appears. He must ask himself: are his feelings a creation of his incubine bloodline or true romantic emotions? Torn between his tragic past and his suicidal quest to kill his creator, Cedric and Angeline must learn to trust each other or lose themselves to the oncoming war. Angeline was a commoner serving a noble cousin when a sleepless night led to her discovering Cedric's dark secret: he's not human. Memories muddled by magic, she fears the revered knight and her destiny leads her to being his betrothed. As she travels alongside her monstrous, short-tempered husband, she will soon discover there is fear behind the rage and her feelings begin to shift when Cedric is at his weakest. Enter a world with memorable antagonists like Succubus Queen Lillith, Romasanta the Father of Werewolves, Battle Goddess Badbh, and many more. Lose yourself to lores and history long forgotten from the 12th Century and beyond.… (meer)

The Morrigan, demons, magic, and knights, Cedric the Demonic Knight by Valerie Willis had me sold with the synopsis. Then, I saw the cover and thought oh no, did I make a mistake? The cover didn’t grab me or sell me as much as the synopsis did. I put off reading it, thinking oh no, I have made a mistake. But finally, I picked it up and boy oh boy, is this another case of not judging a book by its cover. The writing is actually really great, as is the story!

The writing is incredibly solid and very reminiscent of typical high fantasy novels. It is structured and descriptive, but not overly so to the point where readers become bogged down or bored. The dialogue feels natural, but is a bit nasty for my taste. I know why the character speaks the way he does, but it doesn’t help keep me from cringing when he does and gets misogynistic.

The plot is also typical of fantasy. There is the overarching goal — destroy Morrighan. The distractions — beasts, discovery of self. The improbability of survival. Cedric, after accidentally acquiring a witchy blooded wife, is on a quest to destroy his makers. A father and a literal maker who designed his birth almost as though he were a lab experiment.

THE ROMANCE! Boy oh boy! I had read another book which I had to DNF and will not receive a review, but it was just sex that made no sense with no story just 10% in. This, on the other hand, was all teasing and no act. When the romantic interests finally give in to their passion, fade to black. Talk about sexual frustration!

This is a fantasy series, despite its drab cover, that really lives up to the genre and is a great read. I wholeheartedly recommend Cedric the Demonic Knight by Valerie Willis to readers that like a mix of Arthurian fantasy mixed with demons and witchcraft with a sprinkle of sex and romance.

Dramatic, Lustful, and fantasy fulfilling.. This was a story that I have been waiting to read for a long time. The beginning dragged you from a fight to a mind full of wonders.

I loved how this main character Cedric was full of surprises. I don’t know if I can say he was nice or evil. As you read this story, you find that Cedric has suffered a lot of things in his life that makes him a little hardcore, like us all, our experiences make us who we are in life.

Angeline, my sweet Angeline.. She was very emotional, but strong at the same time. I like how she stood up to Cedric verbally. Her tongue she would not bite. She was very emotional and at times I shedded a tear or too with her.

I must say I didn’t like the verbal bashing Cedric inflicted on the character Angeline, but I guess for the time that this story is set in, it was acceptable. I love how you felt like you were right in the middle of every coil between the two of them.

I love the drawings that were put in the books, it added a bit of excitement to see at least what the characters looked like.

It’s amazing to see the mind of Willis, to create characters that show excitement in power and not just sex. Although the two go hand and hand it was just different and I like how she created this underlining.

The detail in the love scene was remarkable. It explained the lust without being graphic. You could feel the connection with these two characters that seem to be so opposite. The attraction had always been there it was just the rebelling from Cedric that caused all the build up.

Every battle seemed to become more intense and it made you hold on tight for whatever was going to happen. The emotions of the lustful, feveress pleasure during each fight left you feeling like you just finished making love and had the worst fight of your life.

Valerie, you are an outstanding writer and I can’t wait to read more from you.

Cedric the Demonic Knight (The Cedric Series Book 1) by Valerie Willis is a rich adventure. It has knights and kings, ladies of the court and a lady who can stand up for herself, demons, witches, goddesses, hellhounds and my personal favorite firey horses with an awesome personality.

This story is about a knight who is not quite what he seems, well because he is a mix of different demons. He walks among those of the less than demonic world and fights in a battle that wins him the bride of his choosing, Angeline. He takes Angeline as his bride, not because she is the most beautiful, but because she saw him do something out of character for a human and now he wants to use her as bait in his battles with demons. You see, despite being a demon, Cedric fights other demons and takes care of them for the kingdom. With his bait in hand, Cedric sets off with Angeline on an epic journey with Cedric’s past and parentage which ultimately connects the newlyweds on a journey to each other.

As you can see from my breakdown in ratings, this did not turn out to be a typical Behind Closed Doors Book Review book... (Continued on Blog Site)

Cedric the Knight is a well written book by Valerie Willis. I am not sure what I expected when I started to read this book, but I definitely got something totally different and unique. At first it starts of with Cedric telling his story, but you are soon thrown into the midst of the action. I have to say this book was rather captivating and is one of those page turners. For a little bit I was wondering what the plot if it was, but there is one and the author soon reveals it, on her terms. I don't find her secrecy took away from it all since it is a very well developed plot that follows along a beautiful pace.

Cedric oh Cedric, what a character. He was rather rough around the edges and the author did an amazing job on his character development, no thanks to Angeline. Angeline is not your typical heroine but oh my, she has quite the impact... (Read more over on Amazon)
