"I know how she takes her tea, how she organizes her closet. I know when she goes to bed each night, what she eats for breakfast, the passcode on her phone. I know she calls her mother on Mondays, takes barre on Thursdays, and meets her friends for drinks on Fridays. But more important than any of that...I know what she did." --… (meer)

Minka Kent never disappoints with her suspense and thrillers, and this one, which gave off strong Single White Female vibes, definitely did not.

I found this to be a fast-paced read, short chapters with the tension ratcheted up more and more until we get to the thrilling climax, that not even I saw coming. That being said, I *did* see what was coming in terms of Meadow knowing what Lauren did…but I did not foresee how it would end.

None of the characters are really likeable, but I think this was intentional.

I believe that the less you know going into this, the more you’ll enjoy it. ( )

Meadow is homeless, living out of her car. She is a college student but can't afford to live on her own. When an ad for a roommate is posted, she can't believe her luck. The house is perfect, her roommate Lauren takes her in as a friend, shares her clothing with Meadow and even has her guy cut Meadow's hair. Meadow becomes entrenched in Lauren's life. So, when Meadow sees Lauren and a professor getting cozy, Meadow is upset, because Meadow cleans the house of the professor and his wife, who is expecting their child.
Meadow has become a great roommate to Lauren, but when things start getting desperate for Meadow, she wonders if everything was real or fake. Who is really the perfect roommate.
Super quick read. ( )

Meadow is a literature student looking for a cheap room to rent and when she moves in with Lauren Wiedenfeld she gets a lot more than she expects. Lauren is generous with her clothes, her friends and her money and Meadow feels unexpectedly welcome.

What she doesn't know is that Lauren and her friends have just been waiting for someone like her.

This is a pretty quick read, but an interesting plot. I'll be reading another by Minka Kent. ( )

Meadow's poor and an introvert and she has found an ad looking for a roommate. She's on her way to check out the place and meet her potential new roommate, Lauren. Lauren is everything Meadow isn't - wealthy, stylish, pretty, sophisticated. But Meadow is in luck; Lauren wants her to be her roommate and also invites her into her social circle. Meadow's thinking she could get used to this, and she likes her new friend - until she catches her doing something she shouldn't be doing.

This was on my wishlist for a while and I wanted it so bad and I have no idea why I never got it. I was over the moon when I found it in my daily email for book deals and it was free! I was hooked from the very first page. The writing is great and it's fun. The characters felt real, they were not without quirks. There's lots of uneasiness and tension. I could relate to Meadow more than I'd like to admit. A very entertaining page-turner. I'm sorry I didn't read it sooner. ( )
