The MC is mostly okay, though he does stupid things and we see a lot of repeat "revelations". My main complaint is that the book was too short both substantively and in terms of page count. We advance the story by one and a half battles, and the twist is entirely predictable. Yawn. The second complaint is that the story is internally inconsistent with itself. We established in book 1 that the system is supposed to be balanced in some way by the Overminds. The book 1 dungeon was made to be abused, but still required a super boss, etc. Yet this book appears to show an antagonist who entirely broke that rule (you know who). Great plot, character development and conflict with believable and entertaining tists and turns. This entire series has been highly enjoyable. (
