This is yet another workplace romance in Radclyffe's PMC series with just a hint of rivals to lovers storyline as well (not so much Enemies to Lovers).

Both Emmett and Syd are fourth year residents in their last months before they become fifth years (or move on from being fourth years at least, fellowships and the like). Syd's hospital loses all their resident/intern spots and PMC picks up most of them and most of them. And that means that suddenly there's more competition for all of them, but especially for Syd and Emmett, because they're both up for Chief Resident. Tension. Lots of tension.

They had a relationship that ended abruptly years ago, and so that adds to the tension as well. And that's also where they start getting closer.

In addition to liking the main points of the novel, I also liked the secondary characters. I'd love to see even more about Zooey and/or Dani, and even about Jerry, Sadie, and Hank.

It was an all around fun read and a twistily good one too. I always hold my breath for how these rivals vs. each other novels will get resolved, and I liked how real and organic this was in regards to that.
