I LOVED this book! It really showed the way gender played roles in sports. The girl was able to overcome the way the men treated her, and she definitely showed them she could do it. ( )

This is a story about the life of Alta Weiss. She played baseball for an all-male, semiprofessional team in the early 1900s. Alta was one of the first women to play baseball on a men’s team at a time when sports like baseball were thought to be only for men. ( )

Alta was always great at throwing a baseball and grew up being a pitcher, striking out all of the boys in town. She joins a semipro team and pitches in her first game. They win the game and many more, and she is the new star pitcher. She then retires and is a doctor, but she spreads her story with another little girl that she sees. ( )

It was about a girl that wanted to play baseball. She was discriminated and told she could play because she was a girl. The team ended up letting her join and she lead the team to winning a game. After that, she never got accused of being a girl and playing baseball.
