Almost anyone you know has heard the tale of Ichabod Crane and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, but for those who haven't, this book is a great way to start, especially for children. With vivid illustrations and descriptive imagery, you feel as though you have traveled to Sleepy Hollow for the first time along with Ichabod. Ichabod Crane is the new school teacher in Sleepy Hollow and is easily liked by everyone there. The people of Sleepy Hollow love to share and tell tales of ghosts and spirits and their favorite is the one of the headless horseman. This story is mysterious, eerie and would be great for a lesson on folklore or around Halloween. ( )

This is a legend of a headless horesman that terrorizes the town, Sleepy Hollow. Shortly after Ichabod Crane comes to Sleepy Hollow, appoints himself the new headmaster, and makes a new life for himself, he began to fancy a woman named Katrina. He went through many struggles to get her attention over the likes of other possible suiters in town. But eventually Crane encountered the headless horseman, after which he disappeared. This story would be fun to read during Halloween time or a great example of a legend. ( )
