I got through just a few chapters before I gave up. Maybe it goes a little deeper than a couple of bros having a couple of brewskies but I certainly wasn't interested in finding out. ( ) Guy gets dumped a couple days before his wedding. With friends and family already on the way, they transform the wedding into just a big party. Stuck with unrefundable honeymoon reservations, Franz invites his brother on the trip as long as no one gets carried over the threshold. It became a lot more of a book about brotherhood ... about family from there. It's also about getting over a love. Kinda longish book. It's more difficult to think of Franz as an everyman if he is receiving $77,000 annual bonuses (and that was ten years ago). Still I enjoyed the read and inspired to travel again. When his fiancée dumped him five days before their wedding, Franz called on his brother Kurt to help him cancel the event. Nonrefundable airline tickets, and deposits on the venue / musicians, etc helped make the decision for them. They held the party anyway, and then decided they’d go on the honeymoon together (with no champagne and no “honeymoon suites”). This is a memoir of a year and a half spent traveling the world, trying to forget. Boring. This should have been interesting, but I quickly tired of his continued laments about Annie (the fiancée), and his attempts to forget by bedding any girl who was remotely willing. Not to mention his constant references to what fantastic careers he and his brother had, the amount of bonus money he got, the famous people he met, the profit from selling their homes, etc. He came off as self-absorbed and immature. Annie was right to bail. books about people bookbox; Very interesting, but I don't think I could do it! Franz's fiancee breaks the engagement weeks before the wedding. He can't get the $$ back, so they have the reception anyway, sans bride. And (because this is before 9/11), he takes his brother on the honeymoon trip to Costa Rica. They have such a great time, that both quit their jobs, sell their houses and backpack around South America, SE Asia and Africa off and on for two years. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Franz Wisner thought he had it all--until, days before they were to be married, his fiancée called it off. His family and friends decided he should have a big party and a honeymoon anyway, with his brother Kurt as his travel companion. Then he lost his dream job, so the brothers decided to leave their old lives behind them. They quit their jobs, sold all their possessions, and traveled around the world, visiting fifty-three countries for the next two years. Franz turned his heartbreak into an opportunity to learn about himself, the world, and the brother he hardly knew. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
