Many who use and enjoy celebrating the Office from Celebrating Common Prayer have said that, especially when they are travelling, the book plus a Bible are simply to heavy and cumbersome. So in the new edition are included a selection of short Bible readings, which follow the same daily and weekly pattern as the psalms; thus it is not necessary to carry a separate Bible. The full text of the Common Worship Psalter is included in this edition. These are printed exactly where they are designed to be read. The section called `After the Office` is now renamed `Occasional Services` as these should stand on their own and not just as a conclusion to the full Office. In addition, refrains have been omitted and the responsory shortened to a simple versicle and response. The editors have also simplified `The Christian Year` in two ways - major feasts of the Church are indicated in bold type in the Calendar but it is left to the user how to mark other festivals and commemorations. Thus the seasons have been integrated with the saintly holy days and things are therefore much less complicated. Celebrating Common Prayer in this new edition is designed to enhance the prayer life of the individual and that of the Church. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
