Hero Leo Conti wants to buy an old department store in Dublin, Ireland. (Leo's grandfather wanted the store for decades and Leo intends to make sure his grandfather gets it before he dies.) Leo visits the store to check it out. While he is there he sees a very attractive girl behind one of the counters (24-year-old heroine Maddie Gallo) and he decides to go over and talk to her. He thinks she's a salesgirl and Maddie thinks he wants to purchase something for his mother. Eventually he asks her out. Later that night, since they are very attracted to each other, they agree to have a one-night stand and then go their separate ways. (Leo doesn't like having big relationships ever since he married and divorced a gold-digging fortune-hunter when he was 23, his wife was 33.) After Leo and Maddie make love Leo suggests that maybe they should see each other again. But when Maddie tells Leo that she isn't a salesgirl (which he assumed she was) and that she owns the department store (Maddie's grandfather, whom she never knew, left her his store when he died) Leo changes his mind. Maddie doesn't understand why Leo changed his mind, but Leo tells her that she'll find out soon enough and leaves.

A few weeks later Maddie goes to a meeting with her lawyer to see a buyer interested in her department store (which Maddie isn't planning to sell) and to her surprise Leo is there and he is the buyer who wants the store. Maddie lets Leo know she isn't selling.

As time goes by Maddie discovers that she is pregnant with Leo's child. She tells Leo and he proposes marriage...

This was a very enjoyable book. I liked Maddie, she was honest, sensible, and caring. I like how she was upfront with Leo about the pregnancy and she didn't keep it a secret from him like some other romance heroines do.

I also liked Leo. He was raised by his grandparents from the age of eight and that is why he is so close to his grandfather. Leo owns a software company among other companies. As Maddie got to know him she found him to be thoughtful, honorable, and considerate.

This was a lovely read with an appealing main couple, some sexy love scenes, and nice locations (Dublin, the Caribbean). ( )
