The author groups blocks by 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes to indicate complexity. I found that I could sew most blocks within the stated time periods (cutting time is extra). I am an intermediate quilter, but the vast majority of these blocks can be done by an experienced beginner.
The author assumes that you are an experienced rotary cutter and piecer. She includes cutting information for 3 sizes of each block (6, 9 and 12 inches finished), but no directions on making the block. Towards the back of the book, she does include some basic quilting information, block assembly tips and 15 quilt layouts.
If I could only keep 10 quilting books, this would be one of them for the ease of use and wide selection of blocks in 3 sizes. If you prefer predesigned or nontraditional patterns, or are very new to quiltmaking, this is not the book for you. ( )
