Occasionally there might come a time even in a devout Christian’s life that a devasting personal event to forsake their adoration of the Lord as well as their covenant with Him. One such individual is the author of this book, Jeff Coulter.
The devasting event for Mr. Coulter had been the death of his mother in 1988. When my beloved mother I felt somewhat devasted myself; however, I found solace in the funeral service when the priest read from, Ecclesiastes 3, especially the first two verses:
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;… [ESV]
Which makes me wonder why Mr. Coulter hadn’t look to the same place to find his comfort in. He did what he did, for it might have been the path on which the Lord wanted him to travel on.
Taking Ecclesiastes 3 to heart, we read in this book that the author on April 20, 2014 had been involved in a horrific head on collision with another which he’d miraculously survived. While Mr. Coulter survived his accident, a week later another calamity entered his life when he suffered from multiple pulmonary emboli which once again had placed him near death’s door. At this time, the author still hadn’t returned to being a devout Christian which caused hellish things to enter vacuum of his soul.
Luckily, through all this, adhering to the vows of holy matrimony, his wife Suzanne remained at his side, guiding him through with the Lord’s intervention, away from the alcoholism and chronic depression which had afflicted him.
Making a total recovery from the abyss his life had been in for so many years, he’s now a reburned Christian, rededicating his life to the service of the Lord, through various ministries and writing books.
If I were to cite a biblical verse regarding Mr. Coutler’s journey it would have to be the 23rd Psalm for he’s walked through the valley of the shadow of death, and has now once again acknowledge the Lord’s greatest to all those who follow him, and is sharing it with others.
For allowing his readers in on the testimony of his own rediscovery of the Lord and what it means, how can I not give Mr. Coulter the 5 STARS his book truly deserves. ( )
