The premise of this story seemed right up my ally, Friends to Lovers. But alas, it was not to be. It wasn’t the writing, the writing is good, but other factors I’ll point out here.
The title of the story doesn’t indicate that this book is part of a series, that it’s really a book three. I felt like I dropped into the middle of a plot. Info from other books was hinted at, and I had to stop and search to find out what other books this author had written and then search for the books before this one to find out what was going on with the hints. Having to do that took me completely out of the story and I almost DNF since I found out that the other books are necessary to help this book make more sense. I only kept reading this one because it’s a very short story.
Because this book felt like it was a continuation, more like a serial actually, I couldn’t relate to the vague characters, and the ending left unanswered questions making it seem more like a cliffhanger. Some of those questions were, 1) Jason wants more from Ford, but doesn’t know how they’ll be together. 2) Ford says no other Ranger can have Jason except him, and Jason agrees. But there’s a problem there. Sure Jason agrees no other Forest Ranger, but how will Ford feel when he finds out that Jason is a high class prostitute? He seems to have an image of Jason from when they grew up together and then Jason hasn’t been exactly honest about his sex schooling either. He’s going to school to be a prostitute. Jason evaded questions that came to close to his profession. So this is another unanswered question that’s left. 3) The book was published in 2015. Is there a conclusion to this couple’s story?
I don’t like cliffhangers, I don’t like reading serials unless they’re comics. I don’t like books that appear as standalones, but aren't, and then I only find that out after I start reading them. The writing is good, but the problems with the story outweigh the writing. I give Spring Break Seduction, 2 Stars.
