Duck prepares a gift for Goose and is flustered when Goose thinks the packaging is the present.

This is a sweet book about friendship and gratitude. Goose's exuberance is infectious, while Duck's gentle attempts to interject are relatable. Tad Hills manages to express a lot of emotions in the relatively simple illustrations.

Unfortunately, even with talking animals as the main (and only) characters, they are still both male so this book has zero diversity. ( )

In this latest book about Duck and Goose, Duck wants to give Goose a present. Duck finds a box that is perfect for the gift. It is almost too perfect. Goose does not believe that there is more to the gift than just the box. Goose is happy with just the box. Duck goes through the story trying to convince Goose that there is a special surprise inside. I would recommend this for any collection owning the Duck & Goose series. Young readers will enjoy this book with big and bold words and colorful illustrations. It would also make a great read aloud as well. This is a great start for young readers not quite ready for chapter books. ( )
