The combination of cozy mystery and a cat drew my attention from the start. Dumped by her husband in favor of his much younger and very pregnant lover, Jane Delight has no one to turn to except Rebecca, her twin sister who is still part of the Amish community.

Jane becomes a murder suspect when a man dies after eating a sample cupcake in Rebecca’s bakery. With the assistance of her sister and her new Agatha Christie mystery addicted roommates, she must find a way to clear her name.

The elderly roommates and their cat add a perfect touch of levity to this story. They are full of ideas about how to find the killer and take an active part in the investigation. Of course, it is not all light-hearted as the reader travels down more serious paths in the quest to learn the killer’s identity. But the journey kept my attention and I became involved in the lives of the major characters. Then there is a hint of a future romance to keep you intrigued.

This is the first book in the Amish Cupcake Cozy Mystery series and I look forward to reading more. ( )

Jane's present and future are much more interesting than her past! She has returned to the Amish community to share the apartment above her twin sister's cupcake shop with two amazing senior citizens who are dedicated amateur sleuths. Great fun! ( )
