Book source ~ Kindle Unlimited Brighton has inherited Hangman’s House from her great-aunt. A great-aunt she had no idea was a witch. And now Brighton has discovered she is one, too. It’s all new to her. Being a new witch in a town thick with witches who’ve known they were witches their whole life is weird. And stressful. But not as stressful as having to babysit a ghost hunting crew from some internet show. The city Council has deemed that Brighton is the best candidate to keep them from discovering all of the supernatural stuff that happens in Coventry because she’s new to town and, well, she doesn’t have a job. Unfortunately, one of the crew is hanged right outside Hangman’s House and now the rest of the crew is convinced there’s freaky shit going down in town. Brighton needs to find out right quick and in a hurry who actually killed the crewman because she knows it wasn’t supernaturally done and he sure as shit didn’t hang himself. With the help of her boyfriend Thorn, who also happens to be the Sheriff, Brighton and her friends get to work solving the dastardly murder. Well, I’d think most murders are dastardly so that’s a bit dramatic even for me. Anyway, this is a decent cozy murder mystery with a side order of romance and serious angst thrown in for good measure. The characters are interesting even if the murder is kinda…not. I’m enjoying this series so far and this is a decent addition to it. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

The witches of Coventry are all on edge when the crew of a famous ghost hunting show arrives in town. Coventry has been good at hiding its secrets from the world for hundreds of years, but in the deep dark corners of the web, whispers of a town full of witches and ghosts circulate among those who are true believers of the paranormal. When it's decided that denying them a filming permit would just make them more suspicious, Brighton is elected by the town council to be their official Coventry escort. Her job is to ensure they don't catch any convincing evidence of the paranormal and hopefully make them so bored they decide to cut the town from their show's schedule. But, this is Coventry we're talking about. When one of the film crew turns up dead at Hangman's House after a night of paranormal investigation, Brighton is once again forced to get involved. Oh, and Thorn's in trouble too. He's in hot water in more ways than one. He'll need Brighton's help to save his bacon from the frying pan, but will he really break her heart? A Clean Sweep is Book 4 in the Wicked Witches of Coventry series. Ghost hunters are in town to investigate. Brighton, Remy and the gang are called upon by the city to escort the ghost hunters around town (and to make sure they don't catch any video footage or EVPs that give away Coventry's hidden secrets). But (of course) things go wrong. Very wrong. Murderously wrong.....
I listened to the audio book version of this story. At 3.5 hours, the audio is a nice, quick listening length. I enjoyed listening on my commutes, while doing household chores after work, etc. Rebecca Mitchell does a great job of narrating. She has a pleasant voice and reads at a perfect pace. Not too slow....and not too fast. She rings the characters to life....even the snarky kitty cat familiar. :)
Fun series! Moving on to Book 5....Panic Broom. This is the last of the series that I could find on audio, so will have to move through the rest of the series at a slower pace. I can only read print/ebooks in the evening or on weekends, but I'm definitely going to keep reading! And there is a spin-off series, Familiar Kitten Mysteries, that I'm really looking forward to reading!
