If you weren't able to put Emma, Vol. 3 down, you may want to take a lunch break before starting on Vol. 4. Equally as exciting and romantic, Vol. 4 features more Eleanor swooning and irresponsible William romancing (which I really thought was the best part of the series but I digress). Readers of Vol. 4 will also be treated to the introduce of two power female characters, "the Duchess of Girl's Love" Monica and "Any excuse to be naked and sultry and say the name "Wilhelm" in an impossibly alluring way" Dorothea. ( )

ちなみに中盤でエマに着せ替えをしていたけれど、あれはミセス・トロロープの衣装を決めるためのマネキン代わりということだったのでしょうか？エマ ヴィクトリアンガイドを購入したけど、2巻を読み終わった時点でパラ見したらまだ見たことのないシーンがあって、ネタバレになると思って読んでないけど・・・。発行年月日で考えると大丈夫なのかな？メイドの仕事がどういうことまでやるのか分からないと楽しめないような気もするので。 ( )

The momentum picks up after the setup of the setting in the previous volume. ( )

In this volume, Emma makes a trip back to London with her new employers, the Molders. Once there, she is cajoled into playing the part of a ladies companion to Mrs. Trollope, an eccentric friend of the Molders, for an evening party where her son plans to announce his engagement. Mrs. Molder and Mrs. Trollope get Emma all fixed up for the party with a fancy dress, and new hairstyle and they take away her glasses. Hmmmm....Emma seems to look rather good as a lady of quality. Of course, since she is back in London, it is inevitable that she and William meet once again.

The story picked up momentum once again in this volume. There was a lot of emotion in this volume, and you are left wondering what will happen next. Mori does such an excellent job with the artwork, and I am amazed at some of the backdrops of London in several drawings. Also, she is doing a nice job contrasting artistically the lives of the wealthy, aristocratic class with that of their servants. I continue to enjoy the series and am moving on to the next volume. ( )

If I could, I would give this installment a 4.5, but because I loved the tension created in this section of the story. Emma returns to London as the lady's maid and side kick for a wealthy lady with a bit of a surprise.

The previous installment really was a bridge to this later moment in the story. There was a lot of great tension in this part of the story, and just a really great read. If you haven't read these yet, I highly recommend it! ( )
