Yeah, don't trust the hype. This book was tamer than anything I have read this year. It was like a third grader who tries to be "scary". AND, it isn't because I am jaded, it was because the reviews all said that it was "the scariest book I have ever read, and it could happen".

And it wasn't really about a sinkhole.

The "Planet" decided that there were too many people, so the trees, the Earth, and the animals decided to stage a week long coup and rid the planet of half the population.

The book is about three groups of people who have to try and stay alive. There is an anticipation that there will be horror and gore, but the most gore I read was about a woman who got shot in the head while laying in a puddle of filth.

Don't waste your time. Even your 5th grader could read this without a trace of fear.

No zombies, No real horror, just a story about people who are trying to get away from the troubles that apparently they brought on themselves by the fact that they are human and the plants, animals, and other non-human, non-animal beings of Earth decided to thin the herd.
