This continuation of The Kindred series follows Synne, a woman trained from childhood in the art warfare and the bow, for one purpose, to end The Coven. A woman who has lost everything at the hands of her enemy and who is willing to risk it all to avenge her family. Well written, I couldn't put it down. I loved the adventure of the journey, the dialogue, interactions, and chemistry with Lachlan (our Hero), the secrets revealed, hating the villain, glimpsing the future, and rooting for a happy ever after. I laughed and cried. All the feels. Donna Grant feeds your appetite and leaves you hungry for more. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

To live in the light, they hunt in the dark... Traumatized by the most devastating event imaginable, Synne has one thing on her mind: ridding the world of the Coven. The witches and their evil allies took away everything she held dear, and not even her beloved trees can quell the rising grief and darkness seeping into her soul. However, when she crosses paths with a sexy-as-sin Scotsman, her way of thinking changes, and she discovers things about herself even she wouldn't have guessed. Lachlan MacCullum, next in line to rule his clan, never expected to have his world turned upside down. But the moment he lays eyes on the gorgeous Hunter, he knows he will never be the same. In addition to making him feel things he never thought possible, she opens him to a world he'd nearly forgotten about. Now, he's consumed by the need to help her. And win her heart. With Sybbyl on the loose and out for domination, and another bone of the First Witch close at hand, reaching the Varroki and joining forces is paramount. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done. Evil has a way of thwarting even the best-laid plans. At least they have each other. But for how long? Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Once again Donna took me to another world. The world of witches, Hunters, Gira, and the Varroki. They all intrigued me and I most definitely want to know more about them.
Our main couple this go around is Synne, a Hunter, and Lachlan, a Highlander. Synne is on a quest to make it to the Varroki stronghold as the abbey where she lived and trained was destroyed by a witch looking to claim all the bones of the First Witch to give herself the ultimate power. (There's one in every Coven).
They meet when she crossed his clan's lands. He sees her in the forest and wonders what she is up to with the trees. Turns out she can hear the trees talking to her. Or more like they let her feel when something is wrong, there is danger or it's peaceful and safe.
He learns of her story and believes her seeing that his grandmother was a witch but no one spoke of that. IN their time witches were killed immediately. He finds her fascinating and beautiful so of course he must join her on her quest. If she fails and Sybbyl achieves more power that would put everyone in danger so he must go to protect his clan.
We have some twists and turns but they aren't there just to take up space....they add to the story and keep you interested.
Now I'm not sure about the ending seeing that it's a cliffhanger of sorts. I guess I could always go back and catch up on what I missed so by the time the next one comes out I'm all caught up and ready to kick some witch butt! ( )
