The curry was very good. I will definitely be making that again.
The beet burgers were ok, but not terribly flavorful; they fell apart and did not hold together well. They required a lot of hard work to make, and-although they tasted all right-they were not worth all of the effort & strenuous clean-up.
The nachos were very disappointing. Any home cook could probably whip together a better-tasting nacho without a recipe, and you definitely would be better off using pre-made tortilla chips than following this book's instructions for making your own...those were just disgusting.
This book is supposedly for children, or 'young chefs', but I did not think it was terribly kid-friendly. Peeling and slicing raw beets and sweet potatoes are not easy tasks, and they are certainly tasks that are not appropriate for children. In spite of all the care & precautions I took, preparing the beet burgers made a colossal mess (there was beet juice staining everything, everyone, everywhere!); I can only imagine the massive kitchen destruction (& potential injuries) that would occur if any child tried to undertake this recipe...Yikes.
This book isn't outstanding and a few of the recipes certainly fail to suit its intended audience. However, the curry recipe was excellent and several other recipes look quite promising. The book has great photos, and the instructions are simple and easy to read. Overall, it's a decent book, but I would recommend looking at a copy & previewing it before deciding to buy. ( )
