The storytelling was strange. The mystery was solved in chapter one, only to reveal a strange twist that changed everything in the final chapter. The princess was generally sweet and fun, but frustrating in her inability to believe the king who never lied to her while implicitly trusting the brother who never cared about her. I kind of wanted the king to get tired of her and go for the princess's lady in waiting instead, but you know how fairy tales go. The bad guys get theirs. The good guys and gals find happily ever after. And we never again have any questions left to wonder about the story. It doesn't hurt that we know absolutely everything that every single person in the book is thinking as soon as they think it.
