If I recall correctly --I read this long ago --it is third in the series of Italian stories beginning with Saracinesca. I am very fond of Saracinesca, but not of Corleone. All I recall is that it involves a young priest who allows himself to be suspected of a murder rather than violate the secrets of the confessional. ( ) Here it is: the world's first Mafia novel. And here it is: one of the first (if not the first) literary uses of that now-standard plot element, the priest who cannot defend himself because of the Seal of the Confessional. And here it is: a far too-long story, and a sequel to the Saracinesca Trilogy that does not do that trilogy justice. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
