I don't think all books need to be morality tales but these cutesy Tiktok Liberal teen romance books have a lot of influence over the kids who read them. It's especially disheartening to me to model an unhealthy relationship/terminal relationships formed as children to queer teens. Queer teens have so little representation and so few models of healthy relationships in dominant media, we should keep them in mind when creating art for them. Like, in high school most kids date the first queer kid they meet out of relief/lack of options. Don't doom them to those awkward relationships forever!
