Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss. An English girl named Rosie adopts a talking dog named Denton to use as a drug mule. In the meantime an evil sentient pair of panties named Bradley aka Tío Braga sneaks into her bag on a beach, where Rosie and her friends pummel the lifeguard (also a talking dog) because he opposes their nudity on the public beach. After they pick up the cocaine in Colombia and Rosie convinces Denton to swallow it the plane they’re on crashes into the jungle. Bradley, whom they call Tío Braga for unknown reasons, slices open Denton, leaves him for dead, and makes off with the cocaine. Rosie has been saved by a native tribe but the evil Bradley attacks her and kills Puju, the native leaving the jungle with Rosie. Denton is saved, patched up, given a travel document and a check for four million pesos from the Colombian government for his troubles and appears to be somewhat famous. Rosie makes it out but seems no better off for her adventures. I’m not sure what happens to Bradley. The story is in Spanish, so I might not be one hundred percent correct, but that’s the gist. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"A black comedy of high order, this debut graphic novel doubles as a psychological drama set in the heart of the Amazon jungle and featuring an absurdist cast of drug traffickers -- including a young woman, a codependent talking dog, and an anthropomorphic pair of sociopathic underwear. Crash Site, the debut graphic novel from British cartoonist Nathan Cowdry, is the story of Rosie, a young drug trafficker who uses her lovelorn talking dog, Denton, to mule drugs across international lines. When Rosie and Denton's return flight to England goes down and they find themselves stranded in the Amazon basin (with fifty grand worth of coke in Denton's stomach), well, getting busted becomes the least of their concerns as they try to find their way out. Did we mention that Rosie is also wearing a pair of anthropomorphic underwear she calls Pants Dude, and that he may have other plans for her and Denton?"--Publisher's website.
