In this book Dr. Ivker gives a thorough and easy to understand explanation of what the sinus is and what problems can develop in these cavities around our eyes, nose, and ears. The book then goes on to explain non-medication methods of dealing with sinus issues such as what supplements to take, nasal irrigation (haven't tried that yet), and lifestyle changes one can make to improve the air quality they breath.
I picked up this book at the library and found it very helpful. One downfall of the book though is Dr. Ivker mentions his website www.sinussurvival.com often and of course suggests using his products and/or products he endorses, which makes the book feel like a big advertisement instead of a health guide. Because of this I would suggest checking the book out at your local library instead of purchasing it.
But regardless of the self promotions it does offer helpful tips and suggestions. One tip I found helpful was the suggestion to use peppermint oil in aromatherapy or rubbing it on your temples. I went to a local health food store and bought a small bottle, which cost about $5, and it did help. Anytime I feel a headache coming on I gently breathe in the peppermint smell and the tension eases up, and if I do get a pounder I rub a small amount of the oil on my temples of eyebrows. ( )
