Onderscheidingen
In a book as provocative as the author, Howard Cosell describes his thirty-three years in broadcasting. This is the story of his involvement and disillusionment with the world of spectator sports from football to boxing. Cosell pulls no punches in telling of his experiences with Monday Night Football, and readers will be fascinated by what he has to say about Frank Gifford, Don Meredith, and O. J. Simpson, those members of the "Jockocracy", the sports broadcasters who once played the game. In his usual style, Cosell spares no one, not even himself. I Never Played the Game is an abrasive, enlightening, and entertaining book of scope and conviction. You don't have to be a sports fan to love it! Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Ugh! Damn me for having to finish a book once I start it. I was not a big fan of Mr. Cosell or his writing, based solely on what I was reading in this book... And it never got better. He had some interesting tid bits about sports, especially boxing and football, of course, all told from his point of view, which was always undeniably right. I am surprised that Mr. Cosell never tried to take credit for inventing the wheel, discovering fire, and curing cancer, although he did seem to take credit for reuniting John Lennon and Yoko Ono at one point. The only thing I can really say that I am happy about this book is that it is over. ( )
