Coach Me: Books 1-4 was given to me through the Goodreads Don’t Buy My Love review program for an honest review. The story is told through the eyes of Tom, aka ‘Tommy,’ a high school football player. The other MC is Tom’s coach, who Tom just calls Coach.

This story is set during Tom’s senior year of high school. The premise is that Tom is once again late for practice and tells the coach he’ll do ‘anything,’ to stop Coach from being upset with him. Tom has a deep desire to please the Coach. From this point on, the things that happened in the story made my eyes pop.

In the office, Coach tells Tom, or rather he calls him Tommy, which to me relegates Tom to a lower ‘little boy’ status, that he wants Tommy. My eyes popped at this point because of the abruptness of Coach stating he wanted Tom. Also I got the impression from the things Tom had said before this happened that Coach was always there for him and helpful, that Coach was 'grooming' Tommy. You know the pedophile way of grooming kids? I think if maybe we knew that Tom was eighteen, it might not have shocked me so much but we never get that indication he's eighteen.

Anyway, when Coach makes his comment to Tom, Tom believes he himself is straight but says okay, because he’s horny and is curious. Soon after the coach makes the comment he does something that makes my eyes pop all over again. The coach is drinking whiskey from a flask in his office, and he offers some to Tommy. What kind of teacher is drinking alcohol on school premises and then offers it to his student? Coach has to be one messed up teacher in my opinion. I have a very difficult time believing he's a good influence on Tom or a good role model with behaviors like that. I have to honestly say I started having major doubts about this story at this point. I was beginning to wonder if this was just a fevered, horny dream of a teenage boy and that he’ll wake at any moment out of the dream.

If anyone reads my reviews, you’ll know I dislike guys that sound like women. Tommy sounded like a teenage girl. But not only that, even though Coach didn’t speak much, he sounded like a teenager. Also throughout their sexual escapades, I got the impression that Coach was grooming Tommy to be a submissive. So I would probably tag this story as light kink which looked like the couple was going to get deeper into kink in the future. I’ll have to clarify, that I don’t dislike BDSM stories, in fact I enjoy reading them. I don’t know what it was, but the way it was presented in the story made me uneasy. Anyway, Tommy enjoyed being told what to do, being used, told when to come or not, restraints, and he was beginning to like inflicted pain. At the beginning of the story he seemed more of a normal teenager, but as soon as he started to interact with Coach, he regressed. Coach’s vocabulary consisted mostly of compliments like how amazing Tommy was, how great he made Coach feel and how Tommy was a good boy. We don’t learn much about Coach at all. I do get the impression the author had fun writing the sex scenes :)

I had an issue with the tenses used in the story. The author seemed too often use present tense when past tense was required, and they flipped back and forth quite frequently. There was also a lot of Tommy monologue repetition on how he felt about Coach and how good sex felt. I would say that there was little difference between each book, except a change of scenery of where the sex took place, and what kind of sex.

These four books were best read as I did, in one reading. Each individual book is very short and could read as one chapter of a book. Each chapter was pretty much PWP. Not completely, since there was some advancement of their relationship, but mostly it was about having sex. If you’re looking for a story that’s almost totally sex with a very big difference in power dynamics, then this is for you. Saying that, it’s also a very fluffy, angst-free, easy to read story. Be warned though that there is infidelity. Tom has a girlfriend at the beginning of the book when he starts his affair with Coach. It’s not talked about much, but she does make an appearance, and we do know that he’s cheating on her. So if that is something that bothers you, then you might not like reading this book. There are no lady-bits though, so no concerns about that.

I’ll have to say that Coach Me is not my type of story, but I’m pretty sure there are readers who will enjoy all the sex. The book is also a very fast, easy angst-free book, which is good if you don’t want anything complicated to read. However, it didn’t work for me, and I’m going to have to give it 2 Stars because of the negative issues I had with the story.
