( ) This was so fun. I still love Orion and Caleb. But I am also starting to love Tyler Corbin. He is the perfect comedic relief when there are intense scenes. This book was far funnier than the first and I found myself smiling and laughing throughout. Time for book 3. ----- On a reread, I find Caleb super annoying lol. Still love Tyler and Orion. This book takes place right after the events of Book 1: The Awakening. Both two girls feel defeated and have come to believe that they are out of their depth here at the school and that perhaps it is better for the two of them to return to the mortal world, but something changes and the two girls decide that a revenge best-served cold should be handed out to their Celestial Heirs. Hence, let the game of revenge begin. The pacing of this book is slow, but at the same time, it is possibly needed as the two girls set out to harness their abilities and push themselves to their limits. Not only that but we see the tables are starting to turn against the Celestial Heirs in their game of bullying. The girls have become devious and outright enjoyable as they set themselves against the Heirs. I like their change in character. They are not uncertain of themselves anymore and they not working alone either. They have begun to look to others among their peers as outcasts and begun to forge friendships, which I absolutely wholely love. There was also a bit of a change in the books. Now we get to see other points of view rather than just Tory and Darcy. They are still the main focus, but we get to see the Celestial Heirs now too. I like this change a bit better than having it broken down into two different novels unnecessarily. And we even have a bit more of the world-building belonging to the Zodiac Academy universe. There are now Star Bonds: Nebula Allies Elysian Mates Astral Adversaries Don't get me wrong but I do love it when there is some sort of bonds within a paranormal romance, At the same time, I do believe the trope is being overdone wayyy too many times. It is nice seeing it here and there but it has become a staple in paranormal romances since it was first put into place. I don't think I have not read a novel with some sort of bonding being featured within the pages. Now, does it do something with this one? I am not quite sure yet because all we have gotten about them is information, but I am assuming that we will soon be seeing more of it come the next coming books. My thoughts on the novel? I have to say that I do like this one a bit better than the previous novels. There were points within that I laughed out loud and there were parts that made me kinda giddy. I am glad we finally get to meet Xavier. I felt so sorry for him though especially when his father forced him to change into his Order. To hear Lionel speak horribly to his kids makes me hope that we will see him die at some point in the upcoming novels. I really hate him and I hate Lance's mother. The two of them deserve whatever fate they get. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"They tried to break us. They almost did. But we're not going anywhere. The Celestial Heirs think the stars are on their side. But they don't know what's coming. We have to be smart. Fighting them one on one isn't an option so we have to be stealthy. Remaining under the radar won't be easy, but if we pull it off, they'll never suspect our involvement when their lives start falling apart. Besides, they've already taken us to the brink of hell, what more can they really do?"--Provided by publisher. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
