This book is about a young boy named Froggy who is on the soccer team that was playing in a tournament to win the City Cup. Froggy's dad is the coach for the soccer team and reminds Froggy to not use his hands. However, during the game, Froggy accidentally uses his hands and ends up letting the other team have a free shot that ties the game up. Froggy feels embarrassed but has the chance to learn from his mistake and ends up scoring the winning shot. This book would be great to use to show the students that you might not get everything right and you can always learn from it. Froggy Plays Soccer is about Froggy learning the rules of soccer and the correct way to play. One of the first things I noticed about this book is that Jonathan London uses repetition. Froggy has a hard time remembering the rules so throughout the book we hear the chant, "Head it! Boot it! Knee it! Shoot it! But don't use your hands!" The illustrations were very colorful and will catch the attention of young readers along with the use of repetition of the chant. I think the kids will have fun with this book saying the chant along with the person reading and learning the rules of soccer. Jonathan London always uses fun words that catches the attentions of readers and make them want to say them out loud, "zap, zloom, slim!" geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
