A Farewell to Charms is the finale in the "Mystic Bayou" series. Now I am not sure this is the last book or if Molly Harper will have a connecting series because I want to know what happens to some of the characters as not everything was wrapped up fully, so I am curious if there is more to come or not. But I finally caught up and I absolutely adored this book and this whole series. There is something so precious about these books that immediately pull you into the story and the charm of this small town and the unique mix of characters that have various types of personalities. I found the romance here to be so different but still fun. I really liked the heroine being a unique shfiter. I really enjoy that this author handles some unique set ups as the heroine is a gnome haha It was so different and I really enjoyed it. Overall I found this to be an endearing read that just turned out to be a charming finale to a superb series that wormed its way into my heart! I will lump all six books of the Mystic Bayou series into one review because they follow the same charming formula that Molly Harper tends to use. The similarities between the stories don’t harm them, as long as you go into each knowing exactly what you will get. There will be a meet-cute, followed by lots of sexual tension, a mystery solved together with the requisite found family, and happily ever after for our star couple. Throw in a dragon, a were-bear, selkies, a dryad, a witch, and a gnome, and you have quite the community. I enjoyed every minute of listening to the series. A Farewell to Charms Mystic Bayou, Book 6 I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series. Media Type: Audiobook Source: AudiblePlus Dates Read: 1/27/22 - 1/29/22 Stars: 4 Stars Narrator(s):Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis The Characters: Eva Boudreaux: Alex Lancaster: Pretty sure everyone in town makes an appearance. The Story: Eva Boudreaux is a new majee recently settled in Mystic Falls. Alex Lancaster is a human who works for The League whose main goal is helping the town deal with their population boom after informing the world of its existence. An deserted road mishap brings them together after much hesitation on both sides. These two work well together. I’m glad they were able to expose their secrets to one another and build everlasting trust. I would have loved to see Alex’s nightmare of both sets of parents visiting at the same time but alas I will have to use my imagination. I can’t believe this is the end of this series. I’ve loved this town since book one and I will miss them dearly. The Random Thoughts: Challenges: Year of Smut 2022 - Romance with a Plus Size lead geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Queen of paranormal romantic comedy Molly Harper delivers love and laughter in this magnificent series finale! Eva Boudreaux keeps the truth about her life before arriving in Mystic Bayou a carefully guarded secret, flying under the radar as a talented boat mechanic. In the swampy little town filled with powerful supernatural beings, Eva never expected to strike up a charged flirtation with one of the Bayou's human residents. Alex Lancaster is far too polished for Eva's taste - not to mention the danger that comes with his high-ranking position in the League, which could expose her secrets. Trouble is, she can't resist his disarming sense of humor or the chemistry that crackles to life whenever he's near. Will Alex be able to handle a woman like her? Or will her difficult past keep them apart? Either way, they'll need to join forces to solve one final mystery in Mystic Bayou. The fate of the town - and their hearts - depends upon it. Mystic Bayou's newest mechanic, Eva Boudreaux, has worked hard to keep her true nature and troubling past a secret, but a chance encounter with the League's managing director in town, Alex Lancaster, arouses more than his curiosity. As their mild flirtation develops into something deeper, Eva's past threatens to destroy both their romance and their lives.
This final installment contains all of the elements that have made the series such a delight - quirky characters, hilarious dialogue, a sweet romance, and an intriguing suspense plot.
Of these, the romance is the weakest aspect. While Eva and Alex are cute together, their opposites attract relationship is underdeveloped, and all conflicts are resolved very quickly, with everything forgiven and forgotten far too easily.
The stalker plot has tremendous potential to ratchet up the tension, yet it, too, fizzles quite rapidly once the villain and motive are revealed. The climax has its intense moments, but all is once again resolved quickly with a minimum of fuss. Even the revelation of Eva's identity is rather meh - she's a - gasp -
It is also disappointing that there is no closure to a couple of threads, namely Alex's
Overall, this is not the best installment, but the series itself is well worth reading for the highly amusing characters, especially Bael and Zed. The audiobook narration is an added bonus. Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis are fantastic. ( )
