Ezra and Anton, I really wanted to give this a 5 cos I love Saxon and Eden's writing but this one just didn't quite kick it for me I think i expected Ezra to be more, different he was so brash and we knew he was hiding stuff but when we found out..was like oh I did enjoy Ezra and Anton UST and their angry f***s. Much like with Finley and Saxon's CU Hockey series, there was a lot to like in this. And Foster Grant (from Power Plays and Straight A's) makes an appearance! A brief one, but an appearance nonetheless. I really liked the NHL Queer Collective that featured as well. As for the actual couple of the book, I loved them both. They had the chemistry of Beck and Jacobs (from Face Offs and Cheap Shots) with their banter and hate/love relationship. Although Ezra was a lot more crazy than Beck and Anton a lot more laid back than Jacobs. Their snarky humour was hilarious and the chemistry was off the charts. I chuckled my way through reading. Apart from the relationship, I also really liked the inclusion of the hockey games, it was cool to have insight into the games and to see the progression over the entire season. I would've liked for a bit more team bonding to happen - rather than just couple bonding - but overall it's a good start to a new series. 4.5 stars, rounded to 5. I greatly disliked Ezra, but I'm not sure if it was only the character or the added bonus of the audio book narrator's commitment to his "Boston accent". Over all the story was pretty thin, the characters flat, and the sex scenes bland. It went by fast though, and gave me a couple of laughs for how bad it was, so two stars in stead of one. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

EZRA Partying, dudes, and hockey. What more could a gay NHL player want? If it weren't for Anton Hayes, my life would be perfect. Not that he affects my life in any way. At all. That would imply I care what the winger from Philly thinks of me. Which I don't. Not even a one-night stand with him can thaw his misplaced animosity toward me. He says I'm the one with the ego, but he can talk. He rivals me for most egotistical puck boy in the league. I hate him as much as he hates me. Even if I crave a repeat. ANTON When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Two full-of-themselves hockey players, Ezra and Anton, are out and out enemies.
Though Ezra is out and proud and Anton is only out to a close few, once Ezra learns that Anton is gay, he examines his animosity a little more closely. They hook up.
Next thing Anton is traded to Ezra's team and it's as uncomfortable as it could possibly be until bit by bit the ice breaks - as of course it does in romance novels, lucky us!
The layers of protective over-the-top behaviour, in Ezra's case, and prickliness, in Anton's case, peel back and they begin to see and appreciate the other. It's a pretty story in a roughhouse setting.
I think that's why I'm hesitating giving this 4 stars - despite their humour, we are not always given enough to like about these guys, at least for the first half of the novel. ( )
