To understand this question, we must know that the word abiding means long-lasting or enduring; being Christians, it has to apply to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

For this, let's begin by reading JOHN 17:23 [NKJV]:

"I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."

So how much does the Lord love us? Well, luckily, JOHN gives us the answer in verse 3:17 [NKJV]:

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

And JOHN 16:27 [NKJV] aptly reminds us that:

"for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God."

Love is a definitive two-way street where our Lord has always shown the love He has for us, so in return, have we abide by our love for Him?

I believe this is what pastor and author Rick McDaniel is attempting to communicate to his readers through the 100 daily devotions he shares through this book's pages. Abiding in the love of the Lord will allow you to pause and be encouraged by His words. The devotions in this book are designed to inspire readers to perceive the Lord's hope and love for those who come and believe in Him, even in the most unique places and the most challenging times that might confront them.
