A great book for the Christian needing help through prayer. It leads you through a 30 day program of prayer to help you through difficult times. The author gives also gives personal accounts that showing her progress in her 30 day challenge and how this program helped her. ( )

I was expecting a devotional, but that is not what this book is. Rather, it helps the reader develop their own devotional of sorts to focus on trusting God in times of trial. The author talks about their personal experience doing a 30-day challenge, discusses scriptures that support the reliance on God, and examines methods of prayer. But, in the end, the reader will need to develop their own 30-day challenge experience based on their personal needs and walk with God. ( )

At one time or another, we all have suffered from some anxiety. Whether it be from a loss of income, taking a big test, going for a promotion, etc., we've suffered from it.

As usual, those of us who are believers in the Lord have, and knowing He's also called the Great Physician, His answer to any situation we might have His book close at hand, in the Bible. In perusing it, we find the most significant information regarding worrying about our lives as Christians in MATTHEW 6:25-34 [NKJV]

[25] Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? [26] Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
[27] Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
[28] "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
[29] and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
[30] Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
[31] Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
[32] For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
[33] But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
[34] Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

As with anything else we desire as Christians, we know we're able to pray to our Lord to obtain it; we even get told about us being anxious in PHILIPPIANS 4:6 [NKJV]

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;"

Naturally, all of this requires us to believe in the Lord's plan for each of us and be willing to put our trust in Him. We need to remember that PROVERBS 3:5-6 [NKJV] reminds us of the following:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."

This is the essence I believe Ms. Thompson wants to impart to her readers as she shares her 30-day journey of discovery and experience by placing her trust in the hands of the Lord as she faces a multitude of challenges. She summarizes her experience in the description of the book:

"Casting your cares can only make a difference when you know that God Almighty is the one receiving them. That is because God makes many promises to those who trust Him and depend on Him."

For wanting to assist her readers out of their abyss by placing their trust in the Lord, I've given Ms. Thompson 5 STARS.

I received a MOBI.file copy of this book from the author through a giveaway she had on LibraryThing; the above has been my honest opinion. ( )
